Tears, tantrums and turmoil! From the creator of Wife Swap comes this brand new series, Three in a Bed , in which three sets of proud B&B owners throw open their doors in an attempt to be crowned the best bed and breakfast.

From the owners of grand houses to the mortgage holders of modest seaside semis, countless people open up their homes to paying guests. But with the cost of rooms varying wildly, from as little as £25 to hundreds of pounds a night, how do customers know they are getting good value for money?

Each couple will be judging their fellow hoteliers on everything from the decoration to cleanliness and from the all-important home-cooked breakfast to the local tourist attractions of the area. At the end of their stay the guests only have to pay what they think their visit was worth; with all these larger-than-life owners believing that they know best, fireworks are almost always guaranteed.

First in the run sees retired jeweller, Roger Garlick and his wife Victoria, open up Smugglers Cottage, a historic B&B filled to the brim with antiques. But when their guests arrive, Claire and Mark Smith from the Number One, a 5*, technology filled B&B and Joyce Barham and her husband Ray from the efficient The Kildare, they are unimpressed by the Smugglers rooms.

On top of that, the guests aren't happy with how Roger and Victoria have opted out of the B&B star rating system, instead sticking their own gold stars outside the B&B. Can a trip to a local model village save the Garlicks after the disastrous first impressions?

The second night takes the six up to Blackpool where Claire and Mark go all out to try and impress their guests. First is a trip up Blackpool Tower. But Roger and Victoria aren't keen on the "northern resort for northerners", and things take a heated turn when the issue of the star rating is brought up over dinner…resulting in tears from one of the guests.

The final day takes the group to Skegness where it's the turn of Joyce and Ray to woo their fellow hoteliers...but things don't get to a great start when Mark picks up that the Barham's have never even visited the seal sanctuary they are keenly showing off as their local attraction.

After the last payment has been made who will take away the best B&B title? And when there are Three in a Bed can anyone really get a good night's sleep?
