‘SHE’S AMAZING 2010’: Angela Griffin to host special Race for Life event at London’s O2

As Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life celebrates its 16th birthday this year, a unique event is taking place at London’s O2 on May 1st 2010, to be broadcast on Sky1 HD and Sky1 on May 3rd 2010. Hosted by Angela Griffin, SHE’S AMAZING 2010 is a 90 minute celebration of triumph over adversity featuring coverage of a special Race for Life 5k event which will be taking place around the O2 for the very first time. After the event, in which Angela will take part, viewers will see coverage of an entertainment show held within the O2 featuring musical acts (tbc) and inspirational stories from the event participants. Sky1 HD commissioned SHE’S AMAZING 2010 from indie Crackit Productions. The 1 x 90 minute show will transmit on Sky1 HD and Sky1 on Monday 3rd May 2010.
SHE’S AMAZING 2010 will shine a spotlight on those taking part in the 5k event, learn more about their reasons for doing so, as well as highlighting the amazing work of cancer charities like Cancer Research UK. Some of the women who walk, jog or run Race for Life are cancer survivors, while others are involved to celebrate or remember the lives of family, friends or loved ones. Others are there simply to do something positive to raise money for a great cause. With one in three people affected by cancer at some point in their lives, SHE’S AMAZING 2010 will also give viewers the chance to learn more about the disease and the many advances being made in treatment.

By following real life heart warming and heart breaking stories, we hope to show viewers how important this charity is and how everyone, young or old, can get involved. I’ve dusted off my running shoes and I’m raring to go - hope to see you there!”
As well as showing footage from the 5k event, SHE’S AMAZING 2010 will feature five stand alone stories, each of them featuring contributors in some way affected by cancer, all of whom have, or are trying to overcome the disease through their own strength and courage, and the support of family and friends. Two musical acts (tbc) will also be a part of the post event entertainment show in which Angela will be on stage to congratulate Race for Life participants and hear more heart warming, inspirational stories.
SHE’S AMAZING 2010 was commissioned by Andrea Hamilton, Commissioning Editor, Entertainment, Sky1, Sky2, Sky3 and will be Exec Produced by Elaine Hackitt and Clare Hollywood at Crackit Productions.
