Interview with Martin Bayfield /Guinness Premiership Rugby/

ITV 4

In an ITV Sport interview, Rugby World Cup winner Mike Tindall talks about the current England team set-up.

In an exclusive interview with Martin Bayfield on ITV4’s Guinness Premiership Rugby programme, Tindall was asked whether he felt he still had an opportunity to be in the mix with England. He replied:

Martin BayfieldOf course.  I believe I can play to that standard and I want to play to that standard. But I wasn’t in that thirty-two.  Once I’m not in that thirty-two, internationals leave my mind.  That’s the way I look at it.

On being asked about the current England set up, he commented: “As a player it’s not how I would want it to be set up because people could look at it and go ‘well the people in the thirty-two just have to make sure they stay fit.’  You’d hate to say that people think like that, but people outside could think like that and realistically it could be true.  Someone could be playing better but as long as you stay injury free and play alright you’re the 'go-to' guy.

The way I look at it now is I’m still looking to play for those five changes they get in January, and then making sure I’m in there for the Six Nations and beyond that.

The interview will be repeated in Guinness Premiership Rugby at 12.40am on Tuesday night on ITV1. Guinness Premiership Rugby is on Sundays at 6.30pm on ITV4.
