Forbes magazine has revealed Hollywood's Top-Earning Screen Couples

· Celebrity News · 09 Jan 2012 · by: Forbes

Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, the actors who play Ron and Hermione, top the list of Hollywood’s Top-Earning Screen Couples. Their four Harry Potter movies in the past five years have earned a total of $4.2 billion.

In the Golden Age of Hollywood, couples like Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy or Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers appeared in multiple films together. These days actors usually only get more than one turn as a couple if they star in a franchise like Harry Potter.

Ranking second behind Grint and Watson is reported real-life couple Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, the stars of the Twilight franchise. All of the Twilight films to date have hit theaters in the last five years, earning $2.5 billion at the global box office. While the Harry Potter series is mostly about Potter’s journey, the Twilight franchise is centered on Stewart and Pattinson’s characters, the human Bella and the vampire Edward.

Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox rank third on our list with $1.5 billion. The pair starred in the first two Transformers movies. The third installment, Dark of the Moon, earned a whopping $1.1 billion this past summer but it doesn’t count toward LaBeouf and Fox’s total because she was replaced in the film by model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as the love interest for LaBeouf’s Sam Witwicky.

The top five also featured Robert Downey Jr and Gwyneth Paltrow because of Iron Man and Shia Labeouf and love interest Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Also featured were Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Inception's Leonardo DiCaprio and Marion Cotillard, and Sex and the City's Sarah Jessica Parker and Chris Noth.
