ITV1: The search for a Superstar begins…

This summer on ITV1 will see the launch of ‘Superstar’– a brand new nationwide talent search led by Andrew Lloyd Webber looking for a rock superstar to play the title role of Jesus.

The winner’s life-changing prize will be the leading role in the UK’s first ever arena tour of the legendary rock classic Jesus Christ Superstar that will open at London’s O2 arena on 21 September.

Auditions have taken place across the country in London, Dublin, Belfast, Manchester, Glasgow and Cardiff. Melanie C and Jason Donovan joined Andrew during the early stages of the talent search and assisted as contender numbers were whittled down.

Amanda Holden, the show’s host has been on hand throughout the later stages of the competition getting to know each of the contenders and help them through the process.

The most promising new talent that has impressed Andrew and his casting team will then go through to the live shows. Dawn French and Jason Donovan will join Andrew as judges for the live shows.

But ultimately it will be up to the British public to decide who they want to be his next Superstar and their Jesus.

Superstar is executive produced by Peter Davey with Katharine Begg as series producer. Superstar is an ITV Studios production for ITV1.
