Sky1

Sky 1 / HD

Sky1 and Sky1 HD has commissioned London-based factual production house Red Earth Studio (RES) to produce a new animal-focused series.
Luke Gamble's Vet Adventure
Luke Gamble's Vet Adventures (working title) follows the eponymous UK vet as he travels the world treating and saving animals in need. The 10x60 series, which will air on Sky1 and Sky1 HD will film in exotic locations such as the jungles of Asia, the pampas of South America, the plains of Africa and will feature animals ranging from tigers and orang-utans to household pets. Luke Gamble’s Vet Adventures is Luke’s first TV series and will see the British vet visit local communities, charities and animal shelters as well as immersing himself in the local culture.

Clare Hollywood, Commissioning Editor, Sky1, Sky2, Sky3 comments; “This series is a brilliant opportunity for Sky1 to broaden its offering to our audience and make available to them a factual series that is both unique, entertaining and informative. At Sky1 we are always looking for new talent that we can nurture and break through and Luke Gamble is certainly that. His adventures will give our audience an insight into what this remarkable vet does when he journeys all over the world to treat animals in places as diverse as the Serengeti to the jungles of East Asia."

Red Earth Studio (RES) co-founder and executive producer Julien Mignonac comments; “We’re delighted to have partnered up with Sky1 to find a home for Luke. Luke’s unique presenting style will definitely stand out amongst others. The series will see Luke journey across the globe to deal with a variety of animals and offer expertise and knowledge that is unavailable or in short supply in these areas. Each programme will highlight his trials and tribulations as he visits a new country each time.”

Luke Gamble is a 32-year old member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and founder of The World Veterinary Service (WVS), which was established in 2003 to provide aid and assistance to animal charities and non profit organisations around the world. Throughout this time Luke and his charity have assisted over 170 associated charities from all five continents and continues to visit around 30 different countries each year.

Julien Mignonac is the Executive Producer, Marc Rowedder is the Series Producer/Director and Adam Docker is the Director of Photography/Director. Clare Hollywood commissioned the ten part series for Sky1.

Sky1 and RES were brought to the table by factual distributor TVF. Director, Leila Monks and Head of Acquisitions, Amy Nelson are proud of their latest successful pairing up of broadcaster and producer.

Luke Gamble’s Vet Adventures will air on Sky1 and Sky1 HD in Autumn 2009.
