BBC Scotland talent Sing for Pudsey

BBC 1 Scotland · Highlights · 14 Nov 2011 · by: BBC

Presenters, journalists and actors from across BBC Scotland are stepping out of their comfort zone this year to Sing for Pudsey for BBC Children in Need.

Talent from news, River City and CBeebies are coming together to perform with The Gospel Truth Choir for BBC Children in Need – and have had their first rehearsal at Pacific Quay, Glasgow.

Among the many taking part are BBC Children in Need presenter Jackie Bird, River City stars including Sally Howitt, Claire Knight, Reanne Farley and Tom Urie, Reporting Scotland journalists Jamie McIvor, Pauline McLean and Rob Matheson, along with weather presenters Cat Cubie and Judith Ralston, and CBeebies' Katrina Bryan (Nina from Nina And The Neurons).

Reporting Scotland’s weather presenter Cat Cubie says: “I'm so excited to be involved in Children in Need this year. It's such a great cause and such a great night. It's been heaps of fun rehearsing and singing with the Gospel Truth Choir. It’s amazing how a wee sing-song can just make you feel happy. Hopefully everyone will join in on the night and sing-a-long with their TV's and with us.”

This follows on the success of last year when stars of River City joined forces with The Gospel Truth Choir at the SECC.

River City’s Tom Urie is delighted to be taking part again this year: “It was such a thrill being on stage with the gang last year, and so it’s fantastic that we are, not only doing it again, but getting some new chums to join us. Hopefully people will see how hard we’ve worked and donate lots of money for Children in Need.”

It’s not just BBC Scotland talent taking part – this year youngsters from right across Scotland coming together to Sing for Pudsey - and BBC Scotland want you to do the same.

There is still time for people of all ages and all backgrounds to form a choir with colleagues or friends, raise some money with their own performance, and send the footage in. It could then be used on the night and featured in a BBC One Scotland highlights programme on Saturday 19 November. For more information on how to form your own choir email CINchoirscot@bbc.co.uk

This year’s BBC Children In Need in Scotland will be presented by Jackie Bird, live from Pacific Quay in Glasgow on Friday 18 November and Jackie will also present the highlights programme for BBC One Scotland on Saturday 19 November. There will also be a whole host of Children In Need special programming on BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Alba and Radio Nan Gaidheal.
