 Alan Cumming and Jennifer Jason Leigh wrote, produced and directed The Anniversary Party , still finding the energy to star as Joe and Sally Therrian, a Hollywood couple celebrating their sixth anniversary. He's a writer trying his hand at directing, she's an actress who's feeling time catching up with her. Invited to the party are a host of friends from their demi-monde, including Kevin Kline as Cal Gold, no longer first call when a rom-com leading man is needed; and Gwyneth Paltrow as Skye Davidson, a rising young star. Also invited are the Therrians' neighbours Ryan and Monica Rose (Denis O'Hare and Mina Badie) who have nothing in common with the gathering of once bright young things. But as the night progresses and drink and drugs begin to take effect, truths are revealed, old enmities expressed and sexual scores settled in a cool, intelligent film that is about smart people whose lives are ruined by having to act dumb.
